Nobody could test a CCTV system before building it
In the CCTV world, nobody could truly test a surveillance system before building it. How much bandwidth would hundreds of cameras use? How long would the storage last? Would the video management software cope? A hardware vendor saw the need but didn’t want to fund it exclusively — so at Doo Technologies we built it ourselves.
I led XstreamGenerator (XsG) from scratch: product development, marketing, sales and legal. It became the only independent camera virtualisation and benchmarking tool of its kind, used by 100+ companies.
Virtual cameras, real answers
XsG virtualises physical CCTV cameras in software. Instead of installing hundreds of real cameras, integrators and manufacturers stream realistic camera samples to test bandwidth, image quality, storage and system behaviour before deployment.
The idea comes from server virtualisation in cloud computing — applied, for the first time, to cameras. It is ONVIF-compliant and works with the leading VMS platforms.
Who used it
Camera manufacturers sharing tamper-proof sample files with distributors; server and storage vendors sizing their systems; system integrators validating designs; training centres and government bodies.
